QUANTBIT / QUANTUM OBSERVATORY001 — PUBLIC KEY LANDSCAPE

Beyond
the key.

The next era of Bitcoin starts with a closer look.
Read the public keys. Trace the proof.
Keep the future in view.

A standard key-hash output conceals the key until a spend reveals it. Earlier or off-chain exposure can still matter.

THESIS / 001
BITCOIN & THE QUANTUM QUESTION

A new era.
The same need for proof.

A sufficiently capable future quantum computer could threaten the elliptic-curve assumptions behind Bitcoin's ECDSA and Schnorr signatures. The timing remains uncertain. Public-key exposure, rather than an address label alone, is part of the picture.

What this terminal observes

The radar reads public address data, samples up to 25 recent transactions and inspects up to 12 unspent outputs. Taproot and P2PK output keys are directly visible; standard P2PKH and SegWit key reveals can be detected in sampled spends. Complex scripts require separate review. Unseen history, other addresses and off-chain disclosures are outside this scan.

What verification means

The proof lab recomputes double-SHA-256 Merkle paths and checks the result against a fetched Bitcoin block header. It also checks that the header hash matches the supplied block ID. This demonstrates transaction inclusion under that header; it is not an independent proof-of-work or consensus audit.

What comes next

QSB has demonstrated a specific hash-based construction on mainnet. BIP 360 and BIP 361 are proposals, not activated Bitcoin upgrades. This independent terminal does not provide a quantum-protected wallet, a custody service or a live token. It has no claimed affiliation with these research teams.

Address lookups are sent to mempool.space, with Blockstream as a fallback. No private key, seed phrase or signature is needed. Reports are downloaded locally.
